Mixed Income

Mixed-income housing is is emerging as the best practice model for providing sustainable affordable housing. By deconcentrating individuals and families at lower income levels and assisting families in maintaining their residence in a communities serving various income levels, families can find housing that is subsidized by the Authority discretely embedded in higher income neighborhoods. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s HOPE VI program and the Tax Credit Program are examples of financial vehicles that have helped the  Housing Authorities succeed at mixed income housing development.

WHA’s ability to successfully construct mixed-income housing flows from its public and private partnerships throughout the Wilson Community. The Authority helps to facilitate the necessary investment by the private sector and local/ state government.
